Business No-Brainers: The Reasons You Should Consider Using A Facebook Business Page and Not your Facebook profile!
I was inspired to write this article in three parts after speaking with so many business owners who haven’t yet realized the advantages of having a Business Page for their brand or products and services. They have, to my mind, truly missed the mark. Then there are those who do not understand the concept of a separate entity on the Facebook Business Page or mistakenly believe it’s access to their personal lives online. I’ve even encountered business owners who, to my dismay, have created multiple Facebook accounts, each with a different login and have created a vast amount of tasks for them.
1. Personal vs Private
A Facebook profile and a business Page A Facebook Profile and a Business Page are (nearly) distinct and live very different lives if you are able to make sure to update your profile as your Page. Although there’s a limit on what’s public for your Facebook Profile, unless you are close to you, if you’re still unsure regarding the difference, it won’t cause any harm to limit your settings further should you want to. Facebook allows you to have the ability and the control to make this happen.
On the other hand, put yourself in the position of your friends and family. They probably don’t want to be able to view an update on your business each time they log into Facebook, the same way you don’t wish to know about a friend’s job each time you check-in. Obviously, if they’ve selected to Like your business Page, that’s an entirely different story; however, keeping them separated in the first place allows everyone to choose and protects an individual’s privacy.
Then you can use one login that is universal with no limits on how many Pages you may make and manage.
2. The issue is not about You!
There’s nothing more annoying than clicking a Facebook symbol on a site, and then it takes you to someone’s Facebook profile. This appears unprofessional and like you’re not knowledgeable of how to use Facebook to promote your business. I’m not sure of how many instances this has occurred to me. When it happens, instead of spending the time to figure out if there’s actually fact an additional Page or not, I just turn it off and close the page.
I’m not often making friend requests to people I’m not familiar with. However, suppose that, in this case, I did? Then, I stumbled upon a Facebook Profile after clicking the Facebook follow button on a page and have sent a request to a friend. The request has been accepted. But I’m still not receiving news about business, but photos, comments, updates from friends, photos as well as updates of friends. Not just the person I’m referring to but also their friends whom I don’t even know of Adam. Do I have my point across?
3. Brand Newsfeed
The Page’s Newsfeed, also known as a Timeline, is akin to Your Email marketing on Facebook and helps you succeed in engaging with and reaching individuals. Imagine it as the inbox of a user where you send the entire Business Page related news, i.e. A Newsletter that your people have signed up for. This is in addition to an unsubscribe rate that is much lower, as well as no obligation on users to forward the newsletter to their contacts (albeit with a motivation for them to do this). It is also easier to keep it up-to-date. A couple of sentences can be all that is needed to allow you to gain new fans and more visibility.
But we must not forget the reverse as well, since what you read on your personal Page, Newsfeed will not only offer a wealth of ideas and ideas to develop your own ideas for content but also give you additional opportunities to post comments on other’s posts and get noticed by their Fans/Friends.
The point is that, without your Page Newsfeed and your Page Newsfeed, you won’t be noticed or seen on Facebook, and it truly does reflect that Domino Effect!
In the end, your Page Newsfeed provides an increase in exposure for your brand or business as well as valuable insight into what is most popular with people. It also offers numerous opportunities to engage with new viewers.
Be sure to ensure that you’re making use of Facebook as your Business Page to be able to post comments or posts on the business pages of other people.
4. Tagging & Commenting As Your Page
It’s great when family members and friends tag your photos in places you didn’t even know about or in a place you shared? It’s all well and good, But imagine the scenario where your Facebook Business Page name could be only tagged or shared by them. It’s a restricted audience, isn’t it?
It’s good that this isn’t true. Another great feature to Pages is, in addition to the people who like your Page, anyone who is a Business Page owner can Tag/comment on your Business Page, which opens it directly to a large public. Of course, every time they do this, you’re increasing the amount of Newsfeeds that your Business Page name appears in and not just the number of Fans who are viewing it, but their own Fans, which can yield a wealth of opportunities for engagement as well as new followers.
5. The Sky’s the Limit!
Have you ever heard that Facebook’s profile is restricted to five friends? I’m not aware of anyone with that many friends, and even If it were me, sure that they’d be far too dispersed to spend any time with you!
The Facebook business Page is an entirely different story, with no limit on the number of Likes it could receive. While 5,000 likes on a Facebook profile could be met with ridicule and ridicule about the authenticity of your page, If you’ve got at least 5,000 Likes for your Company Page, you’ll be held in admiration. However, why not stop there?!
6. Google Search Results
While it is essential to focus your online activities on driving traffic to your site, Social Media is the vitality of your web presence. Facebook pages are indexed by Google; this means they are optimized to be search engine friendly. The more active you’re, the more prominent your company will be on search engines leading to a higher web presence and a more ability to make a significant and frequent impression on Social Media.
7. And The Winner Is…
Who doesn’t love a freebie?! Contests/Competitions are a great way to build engagement with your followers/Fans and also incentivise other people to Like your Business Page and share your content, making them an instant ambassador for your brand or business.
In my belief, among the most entertaining and imaginative Facebook Business Page features and an additional feature that Facebook Profiles Facebook Profile cannot offer. The primary reason is that they’re generally only available through Apps or advertising, which Profiles do not provide the tools for and when it comes to apps, they are generally only available on Facebook Tabs (see 12. ) A different unique Business Page option.
Contests are an extremely efficient way to encourage people to share your business Page or content, which can increase your following. Are you done?
8. Likes Featured
This allows you to display the pages of other businesses or brands that you enjoy – providing not just an overview of your company’s interests and brand but also a chance to highlight the pages of the companies you’ve liked, which can encourage reciprocity among the businesses you like.
Clicking the “Like Pages Link located on the left side of your screen lets you select from a selection of Pages that fall under different categories, such as Brands & Products and Companies & Organisations. Naturally, companies that are similar to yours or with whom you share an affiliation or relationship, for example, reliable suppliers, complementary services and others, will always make the most impact.
9. The Business Page Owner
Like the system for managing the content of websites, the Administrator of Business Pages Business Page can delegate administration rights to other Facebook account owners who have various permission levels. This allows you to work more efficiently and free up your time to work on other aspects within your organization, and it also provides an extra level of security as you do not need to provide them with the username or password for your personal Facebook account.
10. Owners of featured Business Pages
You can also make anybody who is already an Administrator of your Business Page a Featured Administrator/Business Page Owner. It will allow them to be associated with your Business Page by showing their Facebook Profile Photo on the About page on your Business Page and also mention the fact that they’re a Page Owner or Business Page owner on their own Facebook profile. In my own company, the advantage of this is to let users see who the employees of the company are, just as on the About Business Page of a website.
11. Business Showcase
A Facebook Business Page lets you display the details of your business, such as opening hours, maps of your location, phone number and address for email address(es) and web address(es) and more. Without losing any personal contact information like mobile numbers, Gmail addresses, etc.
In the section for websites, you can include up to 3 URLs of your choice as well as your business website. Some suggestions include an address for the profile of your Twitter account, LinkedIn Profile/Company Business Page, Google+ Page, Blog URL, etc.
It is also possible to present your company by providing the Company’s Overview, Description mission, Founded Date Awards, Products (a Call to Action that includes the URL of your website is suggested here), etc.
12. Tabs & Apps
Newsletter sign-up newsletter sign-up, Twitter feed, online shop, website link or iFrame are only some examples of ways you can utilize the Business Pages Tabs with the use of third party Apps, another feature only available for Facebook pages. Additionally, most of these apps are absolutely free to download and install and are frequently customizable to your company’s requirements. You can also set up an account with Amazon as well as eBay!
One of the benefits to Tabs like these Tabs is that your followers are able to sign up for your Newsletter and look through the Twitter feed of your business, make purchases of your services or products and more. Without leaving Facebook. Since Facebook’s M.O is to keep users within its boundaries, it’s safe to use Facebook. I’ve chosen to utilize one of these tabs for my blog (in combination with my site area, which it could also show).
13. Promotions and Advertising
It’s true that they’re not cheap; however, Facebook Adverts still sweep the floor with a variety of different (free) and organic methods to increase your following. While I’m not saying that other strategies aren’t as effective, not at all However, there’s a good reason why you have to pay for advertising and they really work!
Facebook Adverts are displayed in a sidebar located on the upper right-hand side of the Timeline (Newsfeed) just before your status bar that lists friends that aren’t online. While an Advert can only be put in conjunction with an individual Page but the great thing about these ads is that their target audience isn’t restricted to Page users and can be targeted to your friends as well.
While Facebook Adverts are a cost-per-click entity that can cost you money when not properly managed, however, you can control the amount you spend by setting the use of a budget, starting and end dates, and the maximum cost per click (if you’re going this route) and more. Facebook gives you the option of a variety of advertising levels to meet your budget and goals. It is also possible to manage your ads from your Page’s Administrator Panel to measure their impact, similar to Facebook insights (see 19. ).
Promotions can also be a paid entity. However, they operate slightly differently from Facebook Adverts in the fact that they are placed in the Newsfeed on your page, which makes them seem more organic and are less intrusive or specific. While we all know that when we click on an advertisement, the person who put it up is paid, this isn’t always well-known or understood when it comes to Promotions.
14. I’m just checking in!
A Check-In Tool is another great tool you can utilize to motivate people to be more engaged and communicate. It’s also an excellent method to show social evidence to show that your Business Page is resonating with users and is beneficial to users. Also, the users who have liked the page Business Page have effectively endorsed your business to their acquaintances. This type of social evidence is a significant factor in a buyer’s decision.
Of course, this depends on your being physically located; therefore, if you’re working from home and are a digital marketer, this might not be the most beneficial feature, but it is still something to be aware of. There is also a feature that is not accessible on Facebook. Facebook Profile!
15. Notes
The under-utilized and appreciated yet fully interactive Facebook Tool is able to be used as a blog and can be used as an additional platform which you can expand your Services, Products or brand. Notes are like a Blog post in the sense that they allow you to add or modify content and remove the 420 characters restriction of the status update.
Fans can also Like and leave comments on your Notes. Equally, any Notes that your Business Page is tagged or commented on can be accessed. Fans can also communicate with other Fans on Your Business Page, which not only improves the visibility of your page but also gives you the possibility of increasing the number of visitors to your Blog as well as your authority and credibility.
You can also add comments, images, and photos, Tag other Fanpages and even change the layout and style of Notes. i.e. make use of bold, italics or numbers, underline bullet points, quotes blocks.
Why are they so important? They are important because Google is able to index your Notes in the event that you have optimized them. This will improve your chances of appearing in the results of a Google search, and, of course, this means more traffic to your business or brand.
A few years ago, you could use the Notes feature as a legitimate blogging platform. However, this appears to have been abandoned by the latest Newsfeed. There are rumours that Facebook is planning to revive the blogging function of Notes, and you should keep an eye out for any developments!
Do you utilize Facebook Notes? Facebook Notes tool? If you do, why?
16. Import Contacts/Invitations
If you’re making use of Facebook as your page, it is possible to invite a multitude of users to like it and grow the number of fans exponentially. This is my top option when you are first setting up your Business Page because they are already your primary audience and thus highly influential in increasing your Likes via their personal Newsfeed, as I mentioned in point 14. The people who have liked Your Business Page have effectively endorsed your business to their peers. This kind of evidence of social trust is an essential factor in a consumer’s purchasing choices and also assists charities to gain support. In the end, word of mouth is the oldest type of marketing, yet it’s arguably the most effective, right?
There’s nothing wrong with regularly inviting people for Likes on the Page. Your lists are likely to have grown since the last time you did it anyway. Facebook allows users to choose which individuals they’d like to invite to Like your Page, so you can tailor it to your audience If you wish.
17. Link Your Business Page to Twitter
If you link the information on your Facebook page with Twitter, every time you post a message on Facebook, the two Social Media channels will be updated at the same time. This is not only an instant win, but it also makes you more efficient because you won’t have to keep updating both channels with the exact content. Make sure that if you make use of HootSuite’s Social Media Dashboard HootSuite Social Media Dashboard that you don’t publish the same content to each of your Social Media channels; otherwise, even the most loyal fans will soon turn off when they see double posts each time!
18. Unique Username
A unique username or Vanity URL, such as Facebook.com/example, will also assist with your search ranking and make your company name synonymous with Facebook, especially valuable if this is also your brand/product/service.
Similar to how you would add the current position you hold to your Facebook profile as an employee, you have the option of adding your business name to your profile, along with the link to your business Page (please be aware that this won’t connect your Facebook Profile or Page it will simply show where you are employed).
19. Examine the activity on your page
When you reach 30 Likes, you’ll be able to access Facebook Insights, which offers an in-depth analysis of each of your business Page posts to show the number of people who saw your post, how many of them engaged with it and how many shared it with their friends. You can also evaluate your posts by showing the percentage of people who spoke about the post with their friends after reading it. Additionally, you can export the report of your Facebook Insights into an Excel spreadsheet and then email it.
As per Facebook, “Insights provides Facebook Business Page owners… with data on their content. Through understanding and analysing trends in the growth of users and demographics as well as consumption of content and the creation of content, Business Page owners… are better equipped to grow their business through Facebook.”
In the end, Facebook Insights provide a platform to look at something that you must be looking over regardless – what content resonates the most with the people, whether it’s specific status updates or hyperlinks to Blog posts, your latest Newsletter or anything else, to allow you to modify your message to have the most significant impact.
Are you part of Facebook’s Facebook Profile and Facebook Business Page group? What are the other benefits or disadvantages did you encounter when using both? I’d love to hear about your stories!
