As blogging has become more popular, you might think that since everyone does it that you must start a blog of your own. Do you recognize this? If you’re holding your hand up, I’m nodding with you. In the last quarter of 2010, as I designed my business marketing strategy for 2011, I decided that the next opportunity for my business was through blogging.
I’d actually thought about starting a blog for a while, but I hadn’t figured out a method to understand it, and my initial impression was that it would consume more time than I had. The chance was there to be taken. I began blogging in January, and to date, I’ve been able to keep up and blog two times every week.
While I’m able to integrate a method of blogging and have figured out how to integrate it within my marketing plan, the reality is that it’s an adventure for me. I’ve also come across bloggers who are more famous are feeling the same. Phew!
The good thing is that if you are an active blogger, you’re on the right track since blogging is sure to boost your current marketing strategies. Although I am just beginning to learn about blog-writing, plenty of businesses, like the ones you run and mine, don’t have the expertise and are making a “go” of it. So, if you’re new to blogging or would want some advice from those who are successful, read on.
This blog post is intended that can provide some motivation to those who are still learning the idea. Although I’m not generally an advocate of ebooks, blogs or sites that advocate secrets revealed strategy, I have found a blog that does this particularly well. Rowan Kunz, which is an online journal specifically designed especially for children and the parents of children who are in the last term of their HSC (HSC for New South Wales), Kunz says that in an entire six months that Secrets of HSC Revealed book Secrets of HSC Revealed book was sold out to more than 60 copies through the blog’s activity and that the blog in itself has filled a variety of sessions (around 15 people new every session). The blog has also brought in new clients for one-on-one coaching (up to 5 new customers every month). I am inspired. I think that’s high-quality, reliable content and an area of the market that’s perfect for you.
Another benefit to blogs is that they’re usually conceived by the imagination of their creators who write to enthuse their followers and, in cases of entrepreneurs, also to create new markets, draw new customers and increase sales. This is the case with Interior designer Oliver Barlow from Sabi Style. In October of 2010, Barlow wrote a blog post about a trend that is referred to as “word art”. I can identify with this as I own some words in my home. The blog posts not just included a discussion of this emerging trend but also included images of the art to encourage readers. This blog post was timed so well that it’s opened up an entirely new market in Sabi Style, with clients who needed help to finish their current room (or room) instead of customers with a huge overhaul in mind. In addition, as any designer can say, the rest is just word of mouth.
Did I inspire you to get blogging? Or return to your blogging journey in case you’ve accidentally lost interest? If yes, here are some additional, basic, but useful suggestions to help you effectively get the maximum marketing value from your blog.
Tip One: Commit To A Schedule
It is evident there is a time-consuming process to create a blog to that it is able to draw a large number of visitors. The first thing you should do is commit to a consistent schedule of posting updates. Your blog can be updated every day, weekly or fortnightly. The decision is yours. I would suggest that you select a frequency you will be able to stick with as people will be coming to your blog hoping to find new content. Once you’ve established the habit of posting regularly, it’s simple, and your readers will keep returning to see more.
Tip Two: Keep Up-to-date on the latest developments in Your Industry
Content is everything when it comes down to creating an effective blog, and the best method to ensure that you’ve got something to write about is to be updated on your field or area of expertise. In doing this, you can get rid of the blogger’s problem of ‘How can I ensure that I’m not running out of things to write about? How do I ensure that I don’t run out of ideas to write about? If you’re in the accounting field, for instance, make time to look at other blogs, sites for industries and other publications that are focused on the subject.
Tip Three: Put Yourself In the shoes of your readers and give them value!
The purpose of blogging is not only to establish trust and relationships; it’s important to establish yourself as an authority in the minds and minds of the readers. To achieve this, the information you write about should answer the questions that readers may be asking that are related to your field of expertise. If you ever put pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard), pretend to become the reader and think, “What do I want to achieve from this blog?
Tip Five: Advertise Your Blog
When you’ve got your blog running, make sure to promote it via the email address you use to sign up, profile on social networks (Facebook and Twitter) and all marketing materials that you use in your company, such as your monthly newsletters and brochures, for example. Be aware that you can increase traffic to your website by taking part in a helpful (non-spamming) way on other blogs and forums.
Tip Six Tip Six: Persist, Persist Persist!
It takes time to develop your blog and receive some serious traffic! This is why it’s crucial to follow these suggestions and to keep going. Keep blogging, enjoy yourself, and it will be evident that you see results that are positive.
For a final note, frequent readers might recall one of my suggestions in the issue of December/January, which was to visit one blog every month. In that article, I suggested that Nicole Avery’s “Planning with Kids blog was a great model to use. I am pleased to announce I am pleased to report that Melbourne Age magazine has agreed with me on this point and identified Avery to be one of Melbourne’s most famous bloggers in their February issue of the magazine earlier this year. It is possible that the same will be the case for you someday.
